Polymer gypsum is a material that has revolutionised the world of interior and furniture design. Its unique properties - durability, lightness and ease of moulding - make it an ideal choice for those who want to create unique furniture tailored to their taste. Countertops and shelves made from polymer plaster can be both elegant and functional, making it an excellent alternative to traditional materials such as wood, concrete or marble. If you want to add a unique touch to the interior of your home, here are some tips on how to create polymer plaster furniture yourself.

Why choose polymer gypsum to create furniture?

Polymer gypsum combines a number of advantages that make it increasingly used for furniture production:

  • Sustainability - Thanks to its structure, polymer gypsum is resistant to mechanical damage, which makes furniture made from this material extremely durable.
  • Lightness - Despite its strength, polymer gypsum is much lighter than concrete or marble, making it easier to assemble and move furniture.
  • Plasticity - A-STONE polymer gypsum in combination with thixotrope can be easily moulded, allowing even the most complex shapes and patterns to be created (other types of polymer gypsum are liquid).
  • Quick drying - The process of creating furniture from polymer plaster does not take long and the material sets quickly, allowing the furniture to be used quickly.

Unique polymer gypsum worktops

The worktop is the centrepiece of many interiors - from kitchens to bathrooms to offices. With polymer gypsum, you can create a worktop that is not only practical but also unique in appearance. The ability to colour the gypsum, add textures and incorporate other materials (e.g. glass, metal) allows for spectacular effects.

How to do it?

  1. Preparation of the mould - Choose the shape of the tabletop that best suits your interior. You can make the mould in wood or plastic, protecting the surface with foil to prevent the plaster from sticking.
  2. Preparation of polymer gypsum - Mix the polymer gypsum according to the instructions on the package. You can add colouring agents to achieve the desired colour of the top.
  3. Filling the mould - Pour the polymer gypsum into the mould, trying to distribute it evenly. To give the top an interesting texture, you can use a texture roller or other tools.
  4. Drying and finishing - Allow the top to dry for a few hours. After this time, remove the mould and sand the edges. You can also varnish the surface to make it durable and resistant to moisture and dirt.

Polymer plaster shelves - minimalist and elegant

Polymer plaster shelves can be a great addition to modern, minimalist interiors. You can create shelves with simple, geometric shapes that look elegant and modern. Thanks to the lightness of polymer plaster, the installation of such shelves is much easier than with traditional materials.

How to do it?

  1. Project selection - Decide what kind of shelves you want to make - they can be classic rectangular shelves or more imaginative forms, such as oval shelves or shelves with unusual cut-outs.
  2. Creation of a form - Use wooden panels or plastic moulds to make the shape of the shelf. Remember to protect the mould with foil.
  3. Pouring plaster - Pour the polymer gypsum into the mould, taking care to distribute the material evenly. For shelves, you can add metal reinforcements to increase their load-bearing capacity.
  4. Drying and assembly - Once the plaster has dried, sand the edges and fix the shelves to the wall with brackets or concealed fixings.

Bathroom and kitchen worktops - durable and resistant

Polymer gypsum worktops are ideal for areas such as bathrooms and kitchens, where durability and resistance to moisture and dirt are important. In addition, polymer gypsum allows for the creation of worktops with a modern, minimalist look that perfectly fits in with current interior design trends.

How to do it?

  1. Designing the countertop - Choose the shape and dimensions of the worktop that will work best in your kitchen or bathroom. You can also include space for a sink or hob.
  2. Preparation of the material - Mix the polymer gypsum, adding dyes or pigments to achieve the desired colour. You can also add textures to give the worktop an original look.
  3. Casting and drying - Pour the mixture into the mould, carefully levelling the surface. Once dry, sand the edges and protect the top with a special varnish to make it more resistant to moisture and dirt.

Advantages of polymer plaster furniture

  • Individual fitting - By creating furniture from polymer plaster, you have complete control over its appearance, shape and colour, allowing it to fit perfectly into your interior.
  • Moisture resistance - Polymer gypsum is more resistant to moisture than traditional gypsum, so it will work well in rooms with high humidity, such as bathrooms and kitchens.
  • Easy to process - Thanks to the plasticity of A-STONE polymer gypsum in combination with thixotrope, it can be easily moulded and adapted to your needs (other polymer gypsums are in liquid form).
  • Modern design - Polymer gypsum allows for the creation of furniture with a modern, minimalist character that fits in perfectly with current trends.

Creating tops and shelves from polymeric gypsum is a way to give your interiors a unique character. With this material, you can easily create durable, elegant furniture that is both functional and aesthetically pleasing. Whether you are planning to create a minimalist kitchen worktop or a designer bookshelf, polymer plaster will allow you to achieve professional results at home.
