A to Z polymer plaster jewellery organisers

A to Z polymer plaster jewellery organisers

Table of contents:

Earrings, rings, pendants and bracelets - every woman who likes to wear jewellery knows how important it is to store it properly. Not only does it protect your favourite trinkets from UV rays and dust, but also from getting tangled and, most importantly, from getting lost. Therefore, today we will present you with an idea for jewellery organisers made of polymer plaster.

Polymer plaster jewellery tray

Let's start with a decidedly easier task - making a jewellery tray out of polymer plaster. Such a tray will come in handy for rings, wedding rings or earrings that we wear every day or very often and only want to put them away when we go for a bath or go to bed. To prepare such a jewellery tray, we can use polymeric gypsum HandiCast (65MPa), as well as other types of mixes. If you want an interesting design, you can make a terrazzo-style jewellery tray - then go for SnowCast polymer gypsumfrom which we prepare coloured particles.

All you need to do is mix the gypsum with the right amount of water (to calculate the ratio, use the gypsum calculator) and dye. If you want multi-coloured terrazzo, make each colour separately. Simply pour the resulting mixture onto a flat surface (e.g. a no longer needed plastic lid from a larger container), wait for the gypsum to set and then grind it into suitably sized pieces.

When making a polymer plaster tray for jewellery, we can also use other ornaments - shells collected on the beach, coffee beans and other small elements. It is important to remember that dry elements are added to the finished plaster mixture.

And how do you make a jewellery tray from polymer plaster? You will, of course, need silicone mould for polymer plasterThe gypsum and water must be mixed together in the right quantity and the dye must be added if it is to be used. When mixing gypsum and water, remember to always add the gypsum to the water and mix the whole thing thoroughly. The best way to do this is to use stirrers for polymer gypsum applied with a drill or screwdriver - this reduces the risk of unsightly air bubbles. HandiCast gypsum sets between 40 and 90 minutes - after this time we remove the tray from the silicone mould and leave it to cure for 3 days. After 72 hours, the compressive strength of the gypsum reaches approximately 65 MPa, allowing further free decoration and safe use of the object.

The tray prepared in this way can be painted (if we have previously dispensed with the use of dye) and also impregnated. The polymer plaster tray for jewellery is ready to use.

Polymer plaster box for jewellery

Jewellery that is worn less often should be put in a closed container that does not let UV rays through - this is what makes silver black. We can keep it in the original boxes, but for the sake of tidiness, it is worth having one larger one in which to hide all the trinkets. Organising the space in this way makes it easier to find the earrings we want to wear in a hurry and to tidy up. The jewellery box can, of course, be made of polymer plaster.

As always, we will need a mould for the casting. If we only need a jewellery box without compartments (e.g. for storing jewellery in original boxes), an appropriately sized mould with a lid will suffice. We can make a cubic box, a jar-shaped box or a cup-shaped box. The shape of such a polymer plaster container for jewellery can, of course, be anything. The task becomes more complicated when you want a jewellery organiser with compartments - you can look for a form that suits you or make it yourself in advance.

With a new mould that we have not used before, we always have to calculate the amount of gypsum, water and colouring agents needed if we decide to add them to the mass. We prepare the mass in exactly the same way as for the tray - also for the polymer plaster box we can use decorative elements in the form of coffee beans or terrazzo. Of course, we make the main element and the lid separately - we can cast them one after the other, so that they dry and are ready for use at a similar time.

Large selection pigments for polymer gypsumThe possibility of decorating the jewellery organisers with other decorative accessories makes it possible to create a utilitarian object that will fit perfectly into the arrangement of the house, making it an original decorative element.
