Autumn is full of dates that transport us to a completely different world - first Halloween takes us on a ghostly adventure, and then Androids invites us to fortune-telling. This is a great opportunity to prepare a themed party for children. Andrew's Day for children is a party that we definitely associate with fortune-telling, but also with creative fun in general. That's why today we're going to give you a hint on how to prepare a creative androgyric party for children, involving plaster casts of course.
In order to keep the tradition alive, it's worth taking a look at the fortune-telling games that we, our parents and grandparents know. The pouring of wax, the shoe race and the longest peel are three of the most popular fortune-telling games. Wax is used to pour patterns into a bowl of water, the shape of which foretells our future. The shoe race is a fortune-telling game known in several versions - we propose that all participants form a line of shoes, and the child whose shoe crosses the threshold first will be the first to move out of the house "on their own" in adulthood. Peeling an apple, we try to keep the peel as long as possible, which is then thrown over the left shoulder - we try to match the shape of the peel to the letter that will be the first letter of the future husband's or future wife's name.
Other popular fortune tellers also involve a game of associations. Objects that can be associated with various professions are placed in a bag: stethoscope, microphone, pen, spanner, newspaper, car keys and many more. Whoever draws the item will be the representative of that profession. It will also be great fun to pierce balloons with fortune telling and good intentions. Before the balloons are inflated, one card is inserted - the children puncture the balloons and read out the slogans on the cards. Another fortune-telling game is to toss a coin into a bowl of water - of course, we all toss with our backs to the bowl, and whoever succeeds will have their wish come true in the near future - the rest will have to wait a little longer for their wish to come true.
When preparing any children's party, remember to combine a variety of forms of play. Moveable games should be interspersed with statistical games - this way the children will move a little, relax a little and won't get bored quickly. As part of the statistical games, art games are great to combine with the theme at an androgyne party for children.
Techniques that are less commonly used in kindergartens, schools and during everyday playtime with parents are also worth exploring. This can include decoupage, i.e. covering objects with layers of thin paper, e.g. doilies. In order to incorporate the theme of St. Andrew's Day, we can decoupage witch hats, magic pots and pumpkins with the children. These items can be made with the children (e.g. hats) or prepared (bought) in advance. It will also be great fun to make a polymer plaster cast!
Polymer gypsum casting is a plastic plaything that, in all probability, the participants are not familiar with! And it is the best introduction to get children interested in it for more than five minutes. Of course, it will require some preparation. To do this, it is necessary to purchase a sufficient quantity of polymeric gypsum and other necessary accessories - mix containers, stirrers, dyes. Paint film will also come in handy to protect the room from dirt. You will also need silicone moulds. Think about what you want to prepare together with your children. If you agree on everything with the other parents, a great idea would be to cast a candle mould out of plaster so that you can make the centrepiece - a soy candle with a liner - yourself at your next party together.
It will be an excellent idea to prepare casts beforehand - they can be other objects, such as coasters - which the children can paint or impregnate after making their own casts. They will then be able to see what the whole process of making polymer plaster casts is like.
Such andrographic polymer plaster casts will be an interesting experience that will unleash layers of creativity in children of all ages. Of course, depending on the age of the children, adult help will be needed to varying degrees. Or why not hold a charity Santa fair at your children's school, where your kids can sell their handmade candles?
